| | Broken carving I finished a dog setting on it's butt for my prettiful GDaughter and was deciding on wheather to stain or paint it. I reached for a pieces of wood and knocked it off the carving table on to the conrete floor in my shop. As you can guess the tail broke off. I used Gorrila Glue(Dark) to attack the tail back on. Well, I got a little messy Due to being a little mad at myself for being so clumsy. After it dried, I notice how shinny the looks of where I glued the tail on and the back sides. I put the Gorrila glue all ove rthe rest and allowed it to dry. All I am going to do now is paint the whites of the dog's eyes and black for the iries and nose.
Justa little tid bit for you all.
I recieve so many worth while tips from everybody , I return the favor but this may not be earth moving, I thought it an interesting technique. Now, how well will it stand up to a 5 year old.
Safety first.

| | Re: Broken carving I haven't tried painting over Gorilla glue but I would bet it takes acryic paint just fine. If you want to paint the rest, try putting the glue on a piece of scrap and see how the paint takes to it. If it looks ok, paint the carving if that is what you intended. Otherwise, it will probably be almost bullet-proof and might survive the attentiion of a grandchild!

| | Re: Broken carving Donna, No ma'am, I am not! I am from southeast Kansas, at the Kansas and Oklahoma border. Not a club around here. Would like to have one but don't have the time to look in to starting one. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
