Default Re: Broke my knife tip--now what?

I have fixed mine by putting a file on my work bench ....secure it down....then pushing the blade ....pointe side up.....filing the back edge toward the point...by using the file never have to worry about taking the temper out of the blade.....I had one knife that if you just looked at the point ...it broke.....looked at the blade with a magnifier glass....found it ...the blade...had hair line cracks all along the blade . was told by a expert that it was tempered wrong.

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert , in five years there'd be a shortage of sand.

Thank you for all the advice. I'll definitely pass this along to my husband, He liked the idea of buying two more and then fixing the old one---and he doesn't even woodcarve!!!!! (of course he thought there was no hurry on fixing it as I seem to have a few knives) Thanks again!!

Leavyc,
It stinks and most of us have been here ourselves. Just follow what these guys have said and you will be fine.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark
