 Bre Bear...Who's Got The Bear? I'm getting ready to take my Fall sabbatical and I thought that it might be fun to dedicate at least part of my carving time to bears. So what I'm getting around to is does anyone have any patterns that they would like to share or know of a place where I can cumshaw some free bear patterns? I did a forum search and didn't see exactly what I was looking for there. I already have the pattern in the last WCI and I have a neat standing pattern from an old issue of Carving Magazine. I also have Mike Shipley's book on country bears. I prefer caricatures but I'm too cheap to order a Bishop's roughout. Besides I kind of like the feeling of starting from scratch. I have seen some Christmas bears mentioned somewhere way back but I'm really not into holiday ornaments. I guess if someone had a Christmas bear I could modify it. That's what I did to a pattern I found on the web. There's the annual Fall crafts festival at Nawger Knob in Townsend on the 29th and I plan to stop in at Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers to see what they have for patterns. Oh well! If anyone feels kindly give me a jingle by PM and I'll make my email address available. If not, thanks for reading this!

| Re: Bre Bear...Who's Got The Bear? The two bears is this picture were done from Mary Duke Guldan's book A woodcarver's Workbook #2 They are each about 10" long 5" high. Her method is to cut pieces from 3/4" lumber and to laminate them. Might find book in library or interlibrary loan. I bought mine from Fox Chapel If interested in this particular pattern |

| Re: Bre Bear...Who's Got The Bear? My current wip are some Russian dancing bears. One is sitting and plays a drum while the other stands and moves his foot. They are mounted on a paddle and moved by strings attached to a weight. The patterns are in the book "Woodcarving with Rick Butz" Jim |
