Default Book on wrinkles and drapery

Hey ya'll,
I just found a really neat book. Dynamic Wrinkles and Drapery by Burne Hogarth. (8.00 used on amazon) It is a book on drawing clothing but it looks as if it will be a really good resource for carvers as well. If there is a way that fabric can move, it looks as if the author described it. As a perk his illustrations look like they would be fun to carve as well.

Take care, gonna go read!
Dan

Another great reference book on drawing folds and drapery is "Draw Fashion Models" by Lee Hammond

I just watched a Woodwrights Shop segment on PBS... his guest was Nora Hall and she was demonstrating how to carve linen folds. It was very interesting and fun to watch.

The only fault I find with Hogarth's book is how many folks in real life have the physique that most of his illustrations have.

The dancing lady on page 49 is more realistic in today's world at least from my observations here in WNY.

So you need to adjust the folds and wrinkles accordingly.
