Question Book on Carving Spiral Ornaments

Further to my question re spiral ornament in Wood Carving Illustrated (posted Feb 12 ?), does anyone know of a book about carving sprials, and the mechanics of increasing the number of twists(?) in the spiral? I've searched Fox Chapel Publishing material, but can find nothing.

I'm especially interested in using spirals in Christmas ornaments, and also in beards, etc, in wood spirits and Santas.

Help is appreciated. TIA.

Rob I do not know of any books on making spirals. I have seen and have used these type of instructions. And what I do is to use masking tape or paper strips to lay out my spirals. Cut the srips to the width of the grove. Then with a saw with 2 strips of wood on each side set to the depth that you want your spiral, cut a saw grove down the center. Then carve the rest.
