Default :BooBoo: Honey Bear

Earlier this spring I cut a larger wormychestnut board in half and carved a honey bear like this one in it but when my wife saw it as I was carving she said,That little baby is staying home!! Which is ok with me. But too I wanted a larger carving for my up coming show in a few wks.

Ive been waiting to carve this other half of that board and finally finished it Friday, course I had a few days this week where I only got got in a few hrs on it so Im gald hes done! LOL

This old wormychestnut board had alot holes in it,some go right through the board,I really had to work this bear in between them.

The bear is 5 3/4 X 9 1/2 inches and the old tree is 22 1/2 inches tall and painted with acrylics.

It was another fun project and I hope you enjoy this booboo honey bear.

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome,Thks' Forrest

Hi Forrest. Looks like you made the most of the worm holes! Do you free hand draw out all your projects like the bear etc.? The eyes on your bear look real. Another nice one!

LOL very nice, a thought would have been to have honey dripping off his face. I like the way you carve and then do such a nice job painting.

You are simply amazing, Forrest. As many carvings of yours that I've seen and it still surprises me how you're able to complete them so quickly, yet nice.

Corey I drew the bear as I draw the main subjects on the wood in all of my carvings than carve them out and whats left on a carving,I carve it into something that goes along with the whole theme. Im gald you liked this booboo honey bear and ask any questions you might like and I will always try to answer them Thanks again Corey for your nice & neat comments. Forrest

Carver/Turner,

I raised three children and when they was babies all clean and dressed up,they was so cute but while eating, let them smear mashed potos or other food items on thier hands and faces, man what a mess!

If Id had the honey on the little bear's face or even his hand thats reaching into the tree hole,Id lost the cutiness of the meaning of this carving. Ive sold alot of bears & honey bears my friend and people like how I carve and paint them,so like they say, if its not broke dont fix it but I do appreciate your thoughts . Thanks for stopping to view this carving and Im gald you liked it. Forrest

Forrest, besides the painting and carving on your projects which are always top notch, I never thought about the basic drawings on your carvings and how you develop them. Your drawings are great, not everyone can do that without patterns. It's clear why your projects turn out so well because your able to see and display and bring to life exactly what you want it to be from the beginning. Now for the critique: Don't Stop!

I enjoy creating and carving really excites me more than any forum of art work,Ive ever done,I sure hope to improve with it in the future. Thanks for your thoughts and neat comments! Forrest
