Thanks Patrick~ Ive carved in alot of different types of wood and enjoy the part of trying to creating something. Knots,roots are all hard woods and hard to carve but once again its the challenge I like. Ive never touched any bass wood in my life,course Im not a bass fisherman either. hahheee

Im glad you liked this bear..thanks for your input. Forrest

Hummmmm?? I dont know about being the man but my main thing is being original. Yea Ive broken tools also so you are not alone there Daddio~

Theres a old feed store in the mtns and the man there cuts a few logs for lumber plus fence post,stopped one day and asked him,sir can I buy some of thoses old cut off knots and boards that are broken.
"Son take all you want" I offered him some money but he wouldnt take it. I knew he liked chickens so that year I was painting alot of turkey feathers and I took him one with a big rooster & hens on it.
He smiled from ear to ear. Ever since then, I stop by to talk with him plus get me some more wood to carve on...thats where this knot plus other wood I carve comes from[well some of it}

Thanks for your input Daddio and keep that Bar-B-Q cooknnnnn~

Anyone who can carve a bear from a knot, is a friend of mine, as I LOVE bears, in fact I'm in the process of carving a bear right now. I'll post it, if it turns out to be a good one, as I just can't bear to show a bear that isn't right!!

He's a real beauty, Forrest....I'm with some of the others....carving a knot is a REAL challenge and you've done a beautiful job on this bear! I always enjoy seeing your work....the originality amazes me and I can always tell it's one of your pieces. Keep up the wonderful work. Bonnie
