Default Best of Show

About a week ago I made a post titled "Feeling Good". I mentioned in it that a friend had taken best of show and promised a picture of his entry. Well we went out to pick up our carvings today, and when I went to take a picture of his Pintail I found someone had "borrowed" the batteries from my camera, so I couldn't get a picture of his carving at the show but I did get one of him holding it when I got home.

Here it is.

I respect anyone who can put that much detail into a carving. Con's on the win!

Wow. And I mean wow. The detail on that piece. I always thought that I would never try to carve a bird because of all the details and patience and skill that it takes. But after seeing that, I now know that I will never be able to do it. Great piece, the colors, the pose. Love it

Saw that one in person, quite impressive. Do you know how many pieces make up the whole? (I couldn't tell)

The tail is an insert and the head was carved by itself, the body is one piece.
