Default What The Best Dressed Woodcarver Wears!

Things have been kind of serious on the forum lately... It seems as if all this summer heat has zapped our combined sense of humor! It's about time that we had a laugh or two! And I've never been one who is shy of making an "A%&" of myself so in the spirit of merriment I present you with the ultimate in woodcarving safety!

First off we have a set of polycarbonate safety glasses which fit very nicely over my regular glasses. notice how they make my eyes twinkle! Honest... it's the glasses!

Next is a cannister style regulator designed to protect the wearer from mold, mildew, pollen, wood dust, paint spray, hail, sleet, and snow! With equipment like this you're ready for any Hazmat drill or asbestos abatement project!

For torso protection we have a full length leather apron which is guaranteed to hide the blood from spouses from any penetrating upper body stab!

On the left hand we have a stainless steel Wally-mart special, good for filleting fish when not being used for woodcarving. Warning... wash the glove real good after filleting or your wood will.......

On the right hand is a Harbor Freight special, one pair of kevlar lined gloves for $13.99. Great for the knife holding hand for those who are slightly kluzty! (And if you're really ingenious you can take the other half of the pair, turn it inside out and have a spare for the same hand!...it works....I swear it!)

On the right thumb is a leather thumb guard wrapped in pink safety tape. If the knife gets through the tape, the guard, and the kevlar lined glove, then it's predestined that you need to be cut because the undoubtedly the big guy upstairs has issued a direct order!

Finally.... I wouldn't be in full uniform if I didn't have my "Vols" hat on! Especially this weekend! "GO VOLS!"

Now! Doesn't everyone feel better now that they've had a laugh?

P.S... That's me under all that fine safety equipment just in case you want to recognize me at the next club show!

Is it my computer or didn't the picture I posted show up on the first post? I figured that I'd get at least one or two smart remarks! I'm really disappointed. And here I was trying to give some folks a good laugh!

Shoot Eddy, when I read your posting I thought, where's the photo. But then when I realized that there was none, the image I conjured up was enough to make me really laugh. Now when I see the photo; well, my conjured up image was a bit wilder. Tom H

Nice Halloween costume Eddy!
I wear whatever I put on in the morning unless it is Sunday.
But then, I am not a power carver so, I don't wear the facil garb nor the apron. Hmmm, I wonder where all those hole in my shirt come from.

You know Eddy I didn't think you used all that safety stuff you described, but then when you post a picture, sure enough there you are. My green tea almost made it into the keyboard. By the way Harbour Freight could use that picture in there new catalog, whata ya think,

Thanks for the laugh! Hope the neighbors didn't see you but if they did we'll know when you don't make any more postings here. That will indicate to us that the Department of Homeland Security has arrived at your steps!

Thanks Eddie,
We needed a good chuckle. I'm not sure that knee boots are tall enough--sometimes we need hip-waders cause it sure can get deep with...well....stuff when any two woodcarvers gather!!

Eddy,

The hat and your hand position threw me off at first glance. I thought I saw Bill Dance the fishin show guy talking a about how big the fish are going to be on his upcoming fish cleaning episode. Looks like you have the neighbors well conditioned to this sort of thing.........I think you scared them back into the house again!!!!!
