Default bench top speed controller

I've tried to find a bench top speed controller for my Wecheer but all I can find is one for Foredom that won't work. Does anyone know if a variable speed bench top control for a router or other piece of equipment will work. I can't keep a steady speed with the variable speed foot pedal.

I'm not sure how many amps you're drawing with that,,,but I've used ceiling fan speed controllers to modulate a number of things. These are rated at around 15 amps. I've used them on burners and such which draw quite a bit of power. A regular dimmer won't handle it. I simply use an outlet box,,,tied in the dimmer,,plugged in the tool and off I went.

A note,,,I'm not an electrician and can't vouch for how safe this is,,,but it worked for years for me. If you decide to try it I have to say I can't be held responsible. Just because I'm dumb enough to do it doesn't mean you should too!. But I have to say,,,it worked really well.
