Hello everyone. I wish each and everyone of your a very happy and Blessed New Year! I responded to a posting back in June of 2008 (can you remember that far back!) and stated that I was also working on a Bellamy styled eagle and here is a picture of the finished project. ![]() I learned many techniques from this project as it was the first using gluing two blocks of basswood together, and dealing with the different grain patterns form this union. I finished the project with acrylic paints, then sprayed two coats of lacquer. After a week of drying I finished it off with several coats of bees wax and a good buffing. This is the largest project I have taken on and the only one that I knew ahead of time that was to be displayed in our home. This eagle will be a part of a family display giving honor to those who have served and are serving in the US Military. My son Tyler and his very good friend Andrew (now a part of our family as well) are Marines. Both are currently state side, and its anticipated that Andrew will be in Iraq in April and Tyler to Afghanistan in September. Altogether there will be six pictures of sons (including Andrew), brothers, and fathers, representing the Marines, Army, and Air Force. Thank you WCI for this wonderful forum and great publication. Without them I would still be whittling on sticks and wasting time watching football. Again, I wish you all a Blessed 2009! Jerry |

I will pass along everyone best wishes the next time I speak with Tyler and Andrew. Both are currently in transit to Twentynine Palms, CA for training. Again thank you for your generous comments. I am not only happy with how it turned out, but also this project was just fun. This was the first project where I could see it coming alive as I worked it, truly enjoyable. We should be hanging pictures next week and I'll post a picture of the wall. Jerry |
