Default Bear & Hounds

This is a old wormy chestnut board I've had in my wood bin for 2 yrs.Its somewhere between 75-100 yrs old but still soild and hard. There was tons of bore holes in this old board and some larger holes like where the rocks and mtns are.

They hunt bears here where I live plus in NC,some weight as much as 450 lbs. Im not into bear hunting,I hunted when I was a young boy,we ate the meat and I sold the hides from coons, course we ate rabbit & squirrels also.

Bear hunts here are done with a pack of mean dogs, packs of 10-15 dogs will get on a bears track and run him till the bear either climbs a tree or gets up on a edge. Then the dogs will hold the bear there till the hunter gets to them. Most times while the bear it climbing to where he thinks hes safe,a few dogs will charge him and the bear will kill a few dogs.

When the hunter arrives course seeing the bear has killed a few of his lead dogs,he will either use a razor sharp arrow{s} into the bear or just shoot him out with a high power'd rifle. Either way,the poor bears doesnt have a chance!

This carvings is 9 1/2 X 10 inches, painted with acrylics. All four sides are painted also.

This is a whole lot different than my little honey bears but its consignment work for a gun & hunting shop in Ms. at Memphis.

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome,Thks' Forrest
