Default Basswood Spools

Does anyone know where I can get basswood spools...you know the spools that thread comes on. I've found ones made of hardwood, but I'd like to find spools made out of basswood...if they exist.

Not sure where to get basswood spools from but if you know someone with a lathe you could ask them to run a few off.

Googled them myself this morning, Nomad has the only link I found that was worthwhile. Started thinking about making my own, if I could just find my lathe........

Check with Larry Yudis at the Woodcraft Shop, Bettendorf IA. He usually has them.

yep. this is what always happens when a woodworker takes up sewing : he keeps his strong preferences for wood, even what kind he winds his thread on

ok, apparently it's up to me to ask - can you tell us what kind of project this is for ? if that wouldn't spoil a surprise, of course

ps - love your Short Grumpy Santa (listing 75934473 on etsy). his attitude reminds me of those ''been farmin' long?'' kids
