Sort of a long shot here. I picked up an old banjolin in a Krakow street market 3 years ago and I am now at last getting to the business of restoring it. The body which holds the banjolin drum does not require acoustic properties and was merely a thick laminate wrapped around a flat base the size of a side plate. So I thought what a good place for a nice bit of solid wood. Too bad I am not a wood carver. The structure is quite simple. An old time bellhop hat about 6 inches across and 2 and a half deep. There isn't anything out there quite like that though. Relief carving on the back would make it on-of-a-kind. And suggestions or takers in this community of carvers? Alfred |
