Default Bandsaw blades

What size blade and TPI would be a good choice for doing cut-outs on the bandsaw, 3/16", 1/4" or 3/8".
Thank you
John

3/16" skiptooth for me... I am using a 1/4" right now and am not happy, the 3/16" allows for tighter turns and detail. Some say that a 3/16" blade wanders a bit, I don't experience that but I have a good size Grizzley bandsaw. I cut wood up to 6" with my saw on a regular basis. Obviously, the thiner the wood the better your control.

I think you'll find that this is another one of those questions that has multiple answers. It boils down to type of usage and personal preference. I have an assortment of 1/2, 3/8, and 1/8 inch Timberwolf and Olson All-Pro blades and have settled on the 3/8 inch Olson All-Pro for most of my use. It's a high performance blade like the Timberwolf but less expensive and readilly available from multiple sources. I believe Rick (littleshavers) stocks a few of them also.

Thanks Greg,
The reason i asked was i just got my bandsaw (jet 14") and i was trying a cut-out with the blade that came with the saw 3/8" and that didn`t work very well. Do you or anyone else ever use a 1/8" blade, or is that to small for cut-outs that are 2 - 3" thick.
Thanks
