Default Balancing wine rack plans

Has anyone made a balancing wine rack. I saw one in a Wayne Barton Chip Carving book (Chip Carving: Design & Pattern Sourcebook pg 62.) and thought that would be a great chip carving project, but there is no instructions accompaning the picture. I have the measurements of the wood,(12 in high 3 1/2 in wide and 2 in thick) but not the angle at which the bottom of the wine rack should be cut to allow the bottle to balace. I also need to find out if the hole for the bottle is also angled and how far down from the top should the hole be drilled and how big should the hole be.
Hopefully, I can make a couple of these before Christmas rolls around for gifts. Thanks.

Hi Greenman, can't really give you anything like facts and figures and I don't have that particular Wayne Barton book(how come I have everything else anybody has written about woodcarving(G)), but here's a suggestion that might help.
A few days ago there was a balancing wine caddy on eBay, the dimensions where given along with a half a dozen pictures. Maybe you can figure the angle out by downloading the pictures, print them out and lay a protractor on the picture of the wine caddy in use?
Here's the url for the eBay item, bidding is closed now.

Other than that I would contact Wayne Barton at his web site and ask for the missing info. .

.

OG.

Ol Gord thats genius. Why didn't I think of that? I really appreciate the link, I think I can get what I need from the pictures. As for the Wayne Barton Chip Carving book, I highly recommend getting a copy. I have about a dozen different chip carving books and this one is the best of the bunch. It's published by Sterling Publishing Co, copyright 2002. Thanks again.
