Default "Baby it's COLD outside"

Curious how those of you with garage workshops, and live in the colder climates (I'm in MN) handle your carving hobbies in the winter. Garage's are expensive to heat. I don't have a dedicated workroom inside - guess the carving may have to wait until Spring. And I was just getting started....

I took a tray off a highchair and plan to make it a carving lap tray to help catch the chips. I use an old breif case to take with me in the car and carve into it while hubby's running his errands. It catches almost all of the chips.

Wanda,
Very ingenious ideas.
As Dad always said, "If there's a will, there's a way"!
Thanks for the tips.

jennifer:
It doesn't get quit as cold down here, but I installed a heat pump in my shop, without the electric heat kit it only pulls about 8 amps, very efficent.

not cold here in New Orleans, but the humidity can be hard to deal with. I use a small painters dropcloth when I'm in the house.

My garage is my shop, no heat just some huge fans, almost 90 degrees in there right now. Send some cold air this way

I carve in the kitchen and use the broom when I'm done.
