| | Avatar carving~ I changed my avatar pict to my 1st carving,it was done about 11 years ago. I didnt have any chisels back then or really wasnt into carving like Im today. it was the only carving I had done till here in the past few years.{wish Id gotten into carving more back then}
I used knives and a few old files to carve this old trown away 14 X 28 inch
cabinet door Id found. Its a old man with him day dreaming of his old home place which had rotten down some and the weeds had grown up around his house.
The door had a hole in it but I used that hole for a knot hole in the fence post. Theres a nail,carved above his head in the tree,he has over alls on also.
Its all stained but for the sky and light affects in the carving as needed plus his white beard.
I called this carving, "Day Dreaming" I never tried to sell it,just hung it in my shop,I have it now handing in our home.
Had a few ask about my avatar and hope you can see the picts better now.
Thanks for allowing me to share this 1st relief carving. Tn~

| | Re: Avatar carving~ Wow! Those sunset (or sunrise) colors really make this carving POP!!! Beautiful work. I am so envious of this amazing abilty that folks show in their FIRST carvings. A little intimidating. Really nice work there Forrest.

| | Re: Avatar carving~ Forrest, Couldn't have a better title. Nor could the carving be any closer to the mark. That is really a peaceful scene. Well done, no matter when nor with what in the way of tools. And I can relate to your statement about wishing you had really got into carving sooner. I feel the same way about it too. Maybe that's why I am so interested in getting younger folks interested. Thanks for sharing.. Tom H |
