Default Auction sale items!

I went to an auction today in the little town of Plainview, NE and I just could not believe it. It was an estate sale. The gentelman who had passed away was a woodcarver/woodworker. There was so much stuff everyone could not believe how it all had fit in his garage and small building. The items were top of the line tools too. Jet, Shop Fox, Delta, you name it it was there. Every kind of hand tool imaginable also. There was so many woodcarving tools too (which I was interested in). I felt like a kid in a candy store. Of course there were many woodcarvers there too so some items went kind of high while some got pretty good deals. And most of the items were brand new or real close to new. For example, there was a brand new 21 piece Pfeil carving set which goes for $900 new from Woodcraft which sold for $360.00. The man had all kinds of different carving tool manufacturers such as Pfeil, Two Cherries, Stubai, Flexcut, etc. Many different power carving tools too, Proxxen, Foredom, Mastercraft, etc. All kinds of sharpening equipment too. There was a ton of wood too (except basswood, I think I seen only a few pieces). Most of it was rough cut Walnut, Oak, and some different hardwoods. Anyway, I just wanted to show you what I purchased. I sure would like to have bought more, but there were just too many people there bidding up the prices. That's just how it goes sometimes at auctions. Let me know if you think I got a good deal or not today. I bought a box of woodcarving books and magazines for $17.50. I bought 3 junk boxes for $5.00 which had a new Flexcut slip strop which is what I wanted. The boxes also had various acrylic paint, screws, a hot plate and just some useless junk. I bought a Power honer for $35.00 which I think Chipping Away sells for around $250.00. And lastly I bought a really nice leather tool roll with some carving tools in it for $70.00. I spent with the tax $136.42.

I do have a question regarding the 3 small palm tools in the picture. Does anyone know the manufacturer of these. The knives are unbelieably sharp. The bottom one is the smallest v-tool I've ever seen. I just cannot make out the small round brass stamp. It looks like a small letter "d" and an "e" with a capital "P" between them. Does that make any sense to anyone?

Sorry this was long I just was excited about it.

Awesome, the power honer alone was a good deal and the books and tools look to be a bargain as well. Good catch!

Gosh, but you really did get a good deal. I'm envious. (get it? Green with envy??) I never seem to find those kinds of good deals at auctions. Did buy a whole tote of Jo Sonja paints last year for $20 and got over 50 tubes. Also bought a used Foredom for a "song" -- mostly because no one there knew what it was and it was getting late.

Good Job.

Hey I think that 'Big Cats' book is the one that is out of print and you can't find for less than $200.
You got some great stuff!
