Welcome!
The hair on your apostle is very well done! Have you been fortunate enough to study under a master carver? or is your exposure to the works in Northern Germany enough to teach you that much? For only carving a year and a half you are very accomplished.
Glad to have you join us.
Thor

First, thank's for making the brave transition from a lurker to sharing some of your carvings. I've been carving quite regularly for over 40 years and some of my bald eagles still look like parrot's!!

I love the interesting swirl that you've put into the apostles' hair. I tried the same technique for the first time on some shelf elves' during Christmas and it really added a very eye appealing touch.

You are well on your way for a new carver. Thanks for posting!

Wow! Self taught and doing that well already! I'm impressed. Hope you share some of the inspiration from your area with us. Sorry about the miscalculation on time carving....I have a bad head cold, and my brain is fuzzy...
Again, welcome, and I do look forward to seeing more of your carvings.

Excuse me while I pick up my jaw.

Wow Doris!

Welcome and please keep sharing, you’re work is excellent.

Looks like you have some natural talent going on there.

Are you involved in any other type of art form too?

Doris, Welcome to this Board. I am sure your carvings will receive lots of compliments as indicated by your first post of your apostle. This carving also illustrates how a simple wax finish can really show off a carving..Tom H
