Default The Apostle

This is my interpretation of one of the ancient apostles. It is 15" high X 8" wide X 6.5" deep, is carved from basswood, finished with a variety of oils and mounted on a subpedestal of redwood.

I said the other day that I was going to take the Cochise bust to the EOWA show in Tulsa but realized today that I am going to have to make a choice. I had planned to enter this piece in the religious category but then realized that I have a relief carving that I want to enter there. Either this piece or the Cochise bust will have to go into the realistic human bust category. So, a choice I will have to make............

Very impressive, Wolf. I've been mostly carving small things, but this fellow and Cochise have me thinking about going to a larger scale.

... not that my skill level is anywhere in your neighborhood, but it might be interesting to make big mistakes instead of little ones :-)

The hood on your apostle is very realistic. It would make a great piece to bring to the show.

My vote is for the this over Cochise. This one is unique. Both are very good. My 2 cents.
