Default any one here from NJ

Hello,
I hope this kind of post is allowed.
Is anyone here from NJ? I read here often to try out tools, look at them, feel them etc before one buys. Only problem is that I do not know of any place in NJ that sells wood carving tools.
Would any NJ carver like to befriend a recently retired Special Ed. teacher who wants to learn to carve? All I would like to do is feel some tools and see if my hands can take them. I would also pay for lessons to get me started. I am NOT looking for anything free. .I have arthritis in both hands and most likely will be power carving but do not like the idea of being surrounded by dust. Breathing NJ air for 63 years is bad enough. I tried using my wood chisels but am not sure how long I can use gouges etc before my hands rebel against me.
If no one responds I will understsand....after all , it IS NJ>
Frank
references will be provided if needed.

I'm in Missouri, far west of NJ, but south 'Jersey is my dream destination of the world and I've been invited there!! The greatest duck/shorebird decoy carvers in the world are there and some have offered to teach me.
They have the steady stream of decoy shows and the best is in September. I sure hope to be there. Frank, I wish I lived as near as you do.

Thanks to all who responded.
The school in Wayne is a pretty long drive time wise
I will keep a lookout for those shows in September and check out a club that is fairly close to me.

Grew up there. Newton, Weehawken, Glassboro, New Brunswick, Lawrenceville. Now I'm east of that. Sorry I can't help with your situation.
