| | I am taking a break Hi Gang,
Just to let you know that I am not going away I am just taking a break. I carved up until Christmas Eve and delivered my last commission at around 10pm Christmas eve. It was a pretty busy year and I am all carved out. I tried to carve this week but my heart is not really in it. No inspiration and as we have all discovered we all go into a slump from time to time. Funny enough I think it may be the weather never seen it like this before. The great white north is very green we have absolutly no snow at all. In fact my grass is starting to grow and the tree's are in bud. There are weeds growing in my garden and on most days I could probably go out in shorts. They say there is no snow in the forcast only warmer temperatures. I feel like I should open my pool and start up the lawn mower really crazy weather.
I know this is only temporary at least I hope it is as I love carving so much. So if I am not around much you will know why. I hope everyone is having a great new year.

| | Re: I am taking a break Colin,
It sounds as though you deserve to give yourself a break. The wood will be there when you decide that it is time to fire it back up again. Rest your body, rekindle your desire, and renew your interest in carving. There is nothing wrong with that. You will probably find that you will enjoy it better and carve better after your well deserved break. You will know when it is time...but until then, enjoy your rest!

I know how you feel with the weather--it is just WACKO!!! I'm running the snowblower once a month and I feel like I should be cutting the grass! Ditto on the weeds in the garden! I even have daffodils and peonies poking their noses up through the soil! I keep telling 'em go back to bed--it's too early! But 'dem kids never listen!!LOL
Take a break. I think after working almost as late as Santa, you deserve to go somewhere nice and quiet--even if it's in yer living room, lying on the couch, TV on, and reading a good book wit' yer eyes closed!!
Have fun, rest up, and fergit about makin' chips!
See ya when ya git back! |

| | Re: I am taking a break Take some time for a little R & R son! We have snow, but unusually mild weather too, but nothing like you're talking about. Take your time, rest up, perhaps do some shopping for a nice piece of wood for later and it will call you when it's ready to be carved, and by then your body will be ready to hear it's call!

| | Re: I am taking a break Hey Colin, enjoy your break, you deserve one!! I know things have been going at break neck speed around here for some time and I'm just now getting a chance to catch my breath!
You're right about the weather, it's crazy here too! It doesn't smell like spring but it sure feels like it and things are starting to bud out here too, that's sure not good!
Too bad it can't be for real, since we didn't get snow for Christmas this year I wouldn't mind not having any till next Christmas. Don't think it's going to work out that way though! No matter what, each day like this just shortens whatever winter weather we do have left!
Take care, enjoy your break! Deborah | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
