Default Am I less of a carver if I have to...

Am I less of a carver if I have to use a little wood filler to fix a spot or a small broken piece? Am I less of a carver if I need to attach a part of the carving latter because if I don't I won't be able to carve a section behind it? Am I less of a carver if I add a piece to the carveing latter because it will make it easier to work on?
If I have ever done any of the above do I have to stand in the corner with my face towards the wall in shame?,Lol. Mike

Mike you are a real carver; no more, no less.

But you are not a whittler; sorry.

Rick, WHAT!!! I'm not a whittler? Well I will be someday, I'll show you,Lol.
Haven't had to do that with the roughout or the cutout that I got from you but the collar and buttons on the vest behind the hands and staff are really giving me fits.
I agree with you about the whittler 100% but it's a goal to go for, Mike

Mike,
The saying "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" doesn't apply to free cutouts.

Rick, I love that cutout you sent me. It's taking me a long time but I think you will like all the detail I'm putting in it. Just wish I had a better picture then this one. I found that book you told me about but it's back orderd for two weeks.Mike

IMHO, NO! I used the epoxy on the cat's ear instead of throwing to piece out or trying to cut the ear off and carving a piece and attaching. When I finish with the piece I will post pictures of it. Whittler or carver, I could care less as long as you don't call me late for dinner. I have seen some whittlers who could carve better than most carvers. But then that is my HO and the only one that counts.

best to you.
