Thanks, everyone, for your wonderful comments. To know that some of you, as vets, were touched by the piece tells me I must have gotten the 'feel' across that I was looking for.

At this time in our country, things look a little uncertain, and I wanted that to show in his face, as well as in the road-to-who-knows-where painting on the bottom. Yet, at the same time, we're still comforted (wrapped in) the freedoms that our country stands for. Anyway, that was the idea.....
