Default Always ask when ordering

ALWAYS ask the price when ordering out of a catalog, I was at the Smoky Mt woodcavers supply, store last month and they gave me new 2011 catalog, while there I looked at a Foredom 5240 and it was price as the catalog said $238.oo, but since I'm on SS. I waited unto I got my check this month, last week I order one and never ask the price, for I sew it in the store and had in in front of me in Black and white.....But then the order got here I was change $263.oo with no shipping....when I email them they said there change in price....that OK, But they should have told me up front....so alway check...and you'll never have a bad feeling....

Papa... I sure can understand your frustration. I'd be upset myself. However, If you check the other on-line pricing, $263.00 for the Foredom 5240 is just about average. I would suggest the next time that instead of sending them an email you call up and complain. A lot of times you can get better results over the phone to a small business than by just sending them an email. With big business a written letter usually works better.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. I have dealt with Smokey Mountain Woodcarvers many times and they always gone over the costs with me and advised shipping costs before we ended our conversation. Not sure what happened when you placed your order. Mac runs a great business and I would recommend anybody to them.

Hi PaPa.
I checked online and your price charged is what they have in the online catalog with free shipping. Maybe what you saw was an in store special?

Good tip on asking prices when ordering because you're right, it will save any bad feelings later.

I have always had good experiences with Smoky Mtn but I usually look up prices online and then call them to order and get totals.

It was a little more money than you expected but now you have it and can enjoy it.

Have some fun with it and show us some pics of your power carvings. Best regards. Paul

Living in the area we do Pa Pa. We are dependent on catalogs for wood carving supplies. Your right about asking before you order. I have stopped ordering on line for most things. I call and order whenever I can. And I have limited my purchases to a few places that I have found I could trust. Smoky Mountain is one I have had good luck with. I hope you enjoy your new foredoom. Look forward to seeing what you do with it.
