NO! It's not the same. It is a whole "nutter" skill that produces whole "nutter" results. Is it an ARTISTIC genre? YES! Can it be mixed with (hand) brush painting? YES. And with any medium except maybe chalk and pastel oils. I would think this question was to prompt responses similar to "hand carved" vs "power carved". Depending on the skill of the operator/artist, either method can produce excellent results. Just my opinion, but "hand painted" conjurs up bristle brush use. I use both methods, and if asked if it's hand painted, I'll say that I painted it myself, and used both traditional and airbrush methods. Once in a while someone, after hearing it was airbrushed, will say something to the effect of "So that's how you did it! sort of like the airbrush painted the article all by itself. Same thing as when I take a reallt nice photograph, and someone will say, "Boy, you must have a really ggod camera!" Ya know, those good cameras take care of all the subject selection, composition, color temps, etc. Al Last edited by AlArchie; 09-13-2006 at 08:22 AM. |

ROTFLMHO! Why yes it is , the "TOOL" is held by the hand, unless you are a foot holder. But then, It isn't really as you have to use a "Tool" to get the job done, Just like using the Brush, A "tool" to get the job done. But then if you use a finger, then it isn't hand painted either, it is finger painted. Hand Carved or not hand carved, hand painted or not hand painted! I really don't care!!!!!Talking Thatis the truth, the whole truth, and noting but the truth. Now y'll can carry on with this. I would rather pick my nose and watch my head collapse!

I think threads like this start becuse of tool envy and the skills some folks have or dont have with the tools.. whats the difference if a charter is dipped or airbrushed for base coats and large area of the carature.. most folks use spray clear coat to finish or dip in blo.. my understanding of hand painted implys it wasent printed or run down an assembly line and done with a cad cam or something. Some folks use woodburners to detail so paints stay where they are painted and dont creep there are folks that have great skills at painting blending colors to excentuate shadows or highlights that dont naturaly exist are we to restrict them folks to hold hand painted at a standard? sorry i think i got up on thr grouchy side of the bed

Has nothing to do with tool envy or skills in my opinion. It has more to do with what one perceives of a definition! You my friend as others, may believe one way while others yet believe another and who has the biggest hammer. Me, I don't care one way or the other nor who has the bifggest hammer. I already know who has the biggest hammer. Wink Skill levels vary and those who think they are the best, well, there is always someone who comes along with less time in carving who shows those people up. Again, I could care less who is better. Not impress with the ego thing. Again, JMHO and to me, the only one that counts. LOL Kind of a had nose cuss ain't I? Nope! No more than the next guy or gal. best to you Thomp. Let the Games begin or have they already..

When I stir the paint with an electric drill, it's hand painted, foot painted, pants and shirt painted, face and hat painted and most evrything within a 10 foot radius painted! I think Lynn started this thread as a lark, and I took the bait! Al |
