Default 5 minute giveaways!

This past weekend, the Woodworkers Show was in town. Our Carving Club had a booth where we exhibited and demonstrated whittling and carving. The intent was to get some folks interested in membership. I sat and whittled these mini wizard's and santa's, and gave most away. There was a huge crowd at the show, and we passed out dozens of club membership forms. A couple of the folks watching asked the popular question, "how long does it take to carve one of those". They determined it took me about 5 minutes. The young Amish kids were the most interested in the whittling and carving. Lots of fun was had, and hopefully some new members will come out of the event.

Hi TomH, super looking little give-a-ways and you are right they draw interest.
Our carving club gives away small carvings at shows. Generally they are the little 5-minute owls. I have even away the little santa's you showed us all how to carve. It's a good feeling!

Great carving, tom its hard to believe you can get that much detail from a 3/4" stick once but 15 times is unbelievable...

i been thinking of something and while looking at your santas..

that theres not too much difference between santas, hillbilly's, cowboys, mountain men or hobos, other than some are a little un kept looking than others, the style of their hats,,, especially if your carving heads or bottle stoppers,

Thumbs up Re: 5 minute giveaways!

Tom my friend .. the simplicity of your pieces are the thing that makes everyone want one ... you are becoming a wantabee in the carving field of santas , wizards and nomes ...

your 5 minute wizard was so popular .. I received e-mails from all over the world on that video .. everybody loved the 5 minute wizard .. Iam still getting e mails about it .. a lady from France e -mailed me the other day about the wonderful 5 minute wizard ..

your minatures are one of the most favorites amoung us all and beginners love them .. you have a fan club building my friend and they just love the simplicity of such a great little carving ..

these guys are great Tom and thank you for introducing these favorites to the beginner .. let me tell you they write me all the time how much they love your work ..

Thanks Tom

Gene

Way to go Tom, if nothing else you certainly express what great people wood carvers really are, for that we thank you and good luck on drawing in some new carvers to the fold.
