Default The 3 Bears

In a yard sale I bought this neatly cut board for 25 cents, think its ash wood. Carved theses 3 bears coming out from thier winters nap in thier den.

Its 9 1/8 X 14 5/8's painted with acrylics. Alittle too shiney but when its totally dry it wont be.

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome.

Thks' Forrest

The cubs have the same brow feature as its parent...you can certainly tell they are of the same family.
If that wood was ash, I expect you would know Forrest. I tried to put a dent in ash before and gave up. Nice layout with your relief carving. Paint job top notch as always.

Patrick my old friend,Im calling it ash cause I carved an old base ball bat and it was white ash, this wood is super hard I know that like that bat was. Its not hickory, oak, maple{?}It could be maple but the grains are so close togther than maple. Im just calling it hard butt wood!! lol No sand paper was ever used on this carving, all the cuts in the bears hair to the grass, didnt need any sanding which is what I like about a hard wood.

Davey & his family live in Ca.now. Where he was borned, hes not carving any more. He always showed me your work plus I also started carving from seeing your work.

You one of the best on board. Thanks for your nice thoughts on theses 3 bears. I hope to sell them for 50cents,double my money!! Yea right!

Thanks again,Forrest

Your a puriest...doesn't use sandpaper. Your work doesn't need it anyway.
The few times I got to scan the message board, I often wondered what happened to Davey. Shame he's not at the carving anymore. Thanks for the update. I expect there are a few more around the board I haven't chatted with for a while. Great seeing all the new comers....more people to learn from.
