Default 20 min. bear

Finally I got a block of wood in my hands!! Carved this quick rough looking bear out of some scrap of pine.

Hes 3/8 wide,1 1/4 tall and 1 7/8 inches long.

Just something to feel wood again thats not howling.

Your thoughts or comments as always are welcome.

Thanks,Forrest

Tom,it was a practice unit to feel something besides the wolves. I have bigger plans than this quick whittling. But I do appreciate you and your good thoughts here.

Forrest,
Nice little bear you've got going there. OK, I need some clarification. Define block of wood. How big was the block before you started. When I think of block, I'm thinking at least something big enough to wrap my hands around. Either I'm mistaken or you been at them little wolves so long that anything the size of a splinter or bigger meets your definition of block of wood. LOL. One more question. How many bristles you got in your paint brush, one or two? If its much more than that I don't see how you get so much detail in your little paintings. Hope you don't mind a little ribbin' from your ole pal up north.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Mark a block of wood is 2 inches and a big slab is 3-4 inches! Anything longer than that is bacon{on my plate}

To paint you have to least have 2 hairs in a brush to hold any paint,I use a 3 haired one for bigger things as painting a flys eye ball!LOL

You might not belive this but I really dont see that good, cant even drive at nights, have a total night blindness. I dob at my little painted carvings, lucky Im hitting the right area, course too,the small areas mean less I have to paint.
Ribbin,I quit waress them in my hair cause folks laugh at me but now I'do's loves bar-b-q ribs!! That what you meant??

Next thing I carve with be larger and hope to finish it before Christmas. Its 5 X 5 inches!

Enough on answering your questions, now who was you again?? Away fellow,I do thank you here for your always nice comments & thought.

Forrest

P.s.S the utter day to shows you how nice folks are in Tn,I was walking to the mail box and found my self with two of the nicest fellers you would want to meet! Only thing is,they even gave me a nice coat, all white and it wasnt my size, cause I couldnt even get my arms through it,plus it was hard to even move, some kinda new rock in rockers coat, with the arms behind you. Any way they was helping me back home, seemed Id walked everywhere in town getting my mail, something also about opening 53 other folks mail. See here in Tn we take care of each utter. Life is good like it should beeesss.

P.S er's Keep me in your prayers, can you tell I might need em!

Forrest,
You are so right about the good people of Tenn. You know I got southern blood runnin in my viens, Lived there for about 3 1/2 years, and if I ever have to relocate again, would probably live there again. My mom grew up in Robbins, which is near Oneida. My grandpa was an old railroad man, he helped build many of the tunnels and tracks down there.
He was a neat old guy. Had a yard full of trees where he had grafted pear and apple trees together, never could figure out why he didn't just plant one each of an apple tree and a pear tree. Grandmas raised chickens. When we were there we never had a meal that didn't have biscuits, gravy, some sort of patato, and dumplins. Grandma mad freah corn bread everyday so that we could have warm cornbread and cold milk. Those were the days. We were back a few yaers ago and stopped by the old home place and the couple that bought the place invited us in to look the place over, asked to stay for dinner, and told us to make ourselves to home. The only time I have ever been treated like that here was from people who originally came from Tenn.LOL I'll be looking forawrd to that large carving that you will be doing.

Safe carving and God Bless,

Mark
