Default 1st place bark carving

Hi Gang,
I attended and entered the Brooklin Woodcarvng Competition last week end in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. I had carved a monster bark carving and entered it in relief carving and won first place. I was very pleased because I hardly ever enter any of these competitions.
The reason I entered this one was that my son lives in Brooklin and I was visiting him for the weekend.
The carving is almost seven feet tall and is one piece of bark off of a black poplar tree. The tree was taken down by the rail road and must have been 150 years old. I was extreamly lucky to be able to get the bark off in one piece. The bark is approximatly two inches thick that is very thick for poplar bark in this part of the country.
I have included the pictures at www.picturetrail.com they are in the wood spirit album I have included four pictures so that you can see it close up and at a distance. Yes I took these pictures today and yes that is snow it has snowed here all week and is still snowing. Oh well I guess that is part of being a Canadian.
