Default 1st:Old Boot:

Ive been wanting to carve a shoe or boot for some time and yesterday I enjoyed carving this ole woren out boot, even has a hole in it.

It gave me time for my thoughts to go back while I carved.

It kinda looks on the order of a old soldiers boot, all woren out from the miles its been through and where just a shoe wouldnt do. It has mud over its toe from firefights and the soldier jumping in a fox hole. Through all the battles and fire it always came through, like our flag of red white and blue.

Its not just a boot, its the will of the soldier that protected him as he hit the ground, but his old boot was all they found. Just a boot was left for the price he paid,I remember it well standing over my brothers grave.

Carving this boot even thoug it might not be all that, but our fighting men & women,to you I take off my hat.

Yours thoughts or comments as always are welcome.

Forrest

P.S I carved it from a chunk of black cherry then stained it and its
2. 3/4 X 3 inches.

That's a really neat boot, Forrest. Think I'll add boots to the list of things I want to try carving one of these days.

Forrest,
Great looking boot! the color and detail was right on. I just finished carving my first rubber boots for a project, sure was fun. I just may have to try another style.
