Default 12 yr. old carver in training

John, age 12, has been carving with me for 2 yrs now, this is a Loon (Basswood 12") he just completed 100% by himself, I did cut out the profile on my bandsaw for him though.

If you check his album on my picture trail site, you'll see two nice trout he also just completed this summer, one airbrushed and one natural.

Not sure what he is going to work on next, but he'll by over later tonight to talk and get something started to carve out.

Bill

Really nice carving and your 12 years old. All I can say is wow what a carving future you have ahead of you young man. I have seen carvers three and four times your age and older that couldnt do half as well. But then you have a great teacher you listen to him and you wont go far wrong. Again congratulations on some wonderful carvings.
Colin

Coffeeman....it's a great looking Loon, he is to be congratulated! Well done son.

I think it's great that you are mentoring the young man in carving, passing on the torch of carving skills. It's nice to see a young man interested in making something with his own two hands.

Wow,

That is just great! Extreamly impressive .

Just shows Age has little to do with the quality of the work, when the talent is there.

Bill, tell the young man he done great. Realy like how his brush strokes show and represents the feathers.
He should be proud as well as yourself.

That's a nice carving no matter what the age. If I had only started carving when I was 12...lets see...how long would that have been, Tom H

Wow! Now that boy has talent and the lucky to have a someone who is such a great carver for a teacher.
I like his other carvings also. The fish, wood spirit and others really show his potential. Keep up the good work John and keep coffeeman straight if you can!, Lol. Mike
