Default From 12 inches Of Dowling

While moving stuff around in my mom garage [ try to make some room for my crap] a foot long piece of square dowling fell out one of the boxes. Not knowing what wood it might be i dug my thumb nail into it and it was hard so into my back pocket it went for whittling on. These are what i made from that scrap piece of wood.

Your stuff is just amazing! I used to carve a lot of chains similar to yours (but not as good) and might like to get back into it. What are the rough dimensions of some of these pieces (I'm thinking of going with 1" x 1") and would you recommend carving in basswood?

Cheers Bob im pleased Ive stired something up in you to carve some chains again. These ones are 10mm x 10mm thats about as big as i go. Never used bass wood i only heared about it a week ago when i joined here so couldn't say if was any good or not. I like to use really hard wood, did a few pieces with box wood which is like trying to cave a stone. Happy Whittling Bob

Nice work! Great patience! And you didn't cut off any fingers in the process!

I'm in awe! I simply don't know how you work that small. Love looking at these, though. I think it's incredible that you can get something so precise and smooth when it's that tiny! How's the finger, Fly?? Saw that mean ol' cut you have. Bonnie
