Default 100 Days of Christmas

Ever sit around and try and think of something new to carve? Well this may be fun and also provide new ideas for Christmas gifts to carve. Lets list something that can be carved in a day or so that can make a practical gift for someone. The goal is 100 interresting items. If you have suggestions put that in too. Keep adding until we get 100 ideas.

1. Back scatcher. Carve a head and a hand out of 2' basswood and connect with a 12' X 3/8' dowel.

2. Key chain. Carve any character you see fit and attach a key chain to it which you can get from any hobby store. I've been known to cut the head off a piece I just messed up and make a key chain out of it.

Your turn.........Rick

Bookmarks-make a whatever with a slot at the bottom for a ribbon and a fob with a slot at the top. Join with a ribbon. A good use for exotic hardwood scraps. Carefull, don't cut yourself! Don

Chip carve or incise 3 inch birch or cedar rounds with snowflake, star, sleigh, snowman, santa etc. then make a twisted copper wire hanger, like in WCI this month. Make neat hanging decorations.

Hey Rick! If you can practically carve anything except the practical, you might decide to practically carve something impractical just for practice! :
