Default Would these be considered flat plane?

I finished these 2 over the weekend. Carved from a 1 inch by 1 inch by 2 inch block of basswood. Would these fall into the flat plane style?

Looks like flat plane style carving to me, Terry. The little hoe is a nice addition to the farmer.

Looks good to me Terry! I like them a lot! I don't see that anyone would say they are not flat plane!

Thumbs up Re: Would these be considered flat plane?

Terry ... Good job ... Good looking little guys ...

Terry.. to me the basis of weather something is flat plane lie's in the fact of what the carver is trying to achieve ... Harley Refsal is the master teacher and carver of this type of carving and the best way to learn and judge is to read and observe his work ..

If your carving is based upon what you have observed and read from others .. then it is definately flat plane work .. and to me by your cut's .. it certainly looks that way ..

You did a good job and please keep it up .. practice makes perfect ...

Flat plane can be sometimes seem odd at first because it isnt based on the normal way to carve .. but once you keep doing it ... it soon becomes a unique look to your work ..

Gene
