Thumbs up Work in progress.......

This is another one based on the metal detecting theme. The little guy is waiting for the starting whistle for the first hunt. As per proper form, he holds his detector aloft, no early swings allowed!
He is destined to go with me to Daytona Beach florida in just over a week. The National beach hunt contest will be on for three days. They have shown an interest in displaying him on the judges table, and also selling him to the highest bidder. Wonder where he'll end up??
The subject and pose probably are strange to anyone who doesn't metal detect, but among that fraternity, the figure is instantly recognizable.
I'm all on fire to carve, having just seen Marvs' display up in Faribault. Wow, that man can carve!!

Looks like a fun piece. I once did one for a metal detecting friend. It showed two guys, one on his knees digging. The other guys detector was covering up the biggest beer tab ever. Goodness knows I've dug of few of those myself! Good Luck.

I bet there will be many bids on this guy. I know I'd love to have him here to look at all winter when I cant be out there diggin...

Thank you for sharing.. and could you let us know the result of the bidding?

I don't know for sure what the brand is, but it does lean to Fisher.....
To answer the height question, he's 7 1/2" tall.
I've painted him since posting the picture, and will be doing his base today.
Perfect carving weather, drizzly and windy outside.
Thx for the good words.
