Arnold, Boy oh boy! that's a keeper for sure. Since I've been at the Evart Roundup for a few days, I totally missed your posting the finish project. But after reading everyones comments, I can only agree . Painted or natural it's an excellent carving.

Im not saying i could not be wrong .....but its.that I've never have been yet....thats a great carving .......and the paint job .....makes it come alive.

I love this one.

Also, I know the feeling of wishing I'd left a carving natural. I finished a likeness of my grandpa in his navy uniform a couple years back and was going to take it home to show him. He passed away before I could get there though. I gave it to my mom when I went home for the funeral. I have always regreted painting the carving but everyone else loves it the way it is.

Anyway, I always enjoy these carving of figures working wood. Well done there!
