Ha, brought a smile to my face. Great looking Wizard. Sometimes they look good standing on a shale-like cliff but yours would look great with or without a base. I like all the details in everything, hat, robe staff, beard, etc.
Nice work, thanks for sharing it!

Man, oh man, that is a great wizard! The detail on him is superb! Lots of character in his face! I don't think he needs a base. He looks great the way he is.

Hi Jonah, your wizard is really nicely carved and painted. As for a base as y our wizard is carved in the round, how about a square base. I thought, even to suggest a carved around base like a cystal ball only in wood. The wizard could be placed about 1/4 inch into the top of the ball, As if to be coming out of the ball. Another thought is a tree trunk base. Some body stop me!!! Or heck, no base at all needed. What size is your wizard.

Thanks everybody. It's carved out of a 3x3x9 block.
I'm thinking it doesn't need a base but the stick is so thin if it gets bumped it will break and possibly take his hand with it.
Maybe a rocky base, but mottles gave me a bunch of Ideas! Thanks

great looking wizard, good carving and paint, i agree with jim a base that looks like rock, and you even be able to add a cauldron or something, just an idea.

Great wizard. I like the rock base idea as well. Please let us see it again if you do put it on a base. I would like to see what you decide on. It sure looks good just like it is too, but I wouldn't want that staff to break off.

I decided on rocks, this was the only piece of bass I had , so I made it like he was walking down a rock road, since it wasn't wide enough to get him on it any other way.
I never carved or painted rocks before, but I guess the message gets through.
sorry for the bad picture ,hard to get a good picture inside.
