| | Web Site Update Pete LeClair Hi fellow caricature carvers, just got a note from Pete LeClair saying his web site has been updated, so I thought I would pass it on.
Just took a look and he has some great looking new caricature heads, busts and patterns that might be of interest to caricature carvers. http://www.ieasysite.com/caricaturec...r_2005_001.htm
Just a public service announcement, no favours expected, no money changed hands.

| | Re: Web Site Update Pete LeClair Thanks OG for posting this! Hopefully, as Caricature carvers develop/update their websites, we will catch wind of it and post here for all to see!
Pete's site mentions that he gives seminars. Has anyone out there taken LeClair's seminars? If so, what was carved and how is Pete as an instructor? Any comments appreciated! |

| | Re: Web Site Update Pete LeClair Hi all,
I took a 3 day seminar with Pete in December, enjoyed it so much that I signed up for another one the last weekend of this month. (I'm also a slow learner) Pete is an excellent instructor, if you have a chance to attend one of his seminars, go for it, you won't regret! |

| | Re: Web Site Update Pete LeClair I just took a three day seminar from Pete last weekend. I have been wanting to take a class from him for several years but could never find the time when he was available. I was not disappointed!! He is very careful that everyone learns together. The project we worked on was a bust named "Cletus". He also included a bottle stopper with the same head. Pete has everyone go at the same pace but if you complete a step or series of steps before everyone is ready for the next step he has you work on the bottle stopper to fill in the time. This by no means is to say the class is slow, just that some carvers are quicker than others. He constantly shows you technique to make greater and greater detail on your carving that carries over to any piece you do. In addition, he provides you with a CD of illustrations which takes you step by step through everything he is teaching you in class. Pete is very encouraging but careful to help you develop better and better skills. I will take a class from him again at the first opportunity I get! |

| | Re: Web Site Update Pete LeClair I'd love to take a class with him but finding the time is tough. Finding the time when he's giving a seminar in this part of the country is even tougher!
But you're right, he's great. I had e-mailed him a couple of questions after I bought one of his books. He was very friendly and helpful. I met him last year at the annual Green Mountain Woodcarvers' show. He was as helpful and friendly in person. Both my son and I were impressed by him and his ability.
Actually, my current project is a caricature using his "Carving Caricatures from Scratch". It's nowhere as good as his, it's a definite learning process but it's a good book.

Just how much is on the CD, like how many images does it include?

| | Re: Web Site Update Pete LeClair Bob D...just a thought (yes I have those once in awhile!) What about a CCA carver or two for a column for questions and answers or maybe better yet for tips and a quick sketch or picture of a specific cut or technique? I know they are busy, but would/should also be good for their class business, as people would be familiar with their work enough to know they want to take their classes! whew, those ideas blow threw and sometimes one gets stuck! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
