| | Wanted: Caricature Pattern of Canadian Mountie Anyone know where I may find a caricature pattern for a Canadian Mountie? I'm interested in one approximately 8" to 9" tall or so. I'm thinking narrow legs and waist, broad shoulders, and chiseled jaw, sorta like the Dudley Do Right cartoon figure. I searched this site, did a Google, and came up short. I may have to go to the drawing board and try and scratch something out, but thought I'd ask here first. Thanks much. Lazy Ike |

| | Re: Wanted: Caricature Pattern of Canadian Mountie Ike .. I have never seen a pattern myself of a mountie .. but if you go to Phil And Vickie Bishops website .. He has a roughout of a Trooper that can be turned into a mountie ..The hat and figure is very similar ... Also go to search and type in mountie on this message site and see what comes up .. I believe Ron Davidson did a carving of a mountie that was on this board not to long ago .. good luck

Link to a very good pic of a Mounty. Shouldn't take much to caricaturize it. |

| | Re: Wanted: Caricature Pattern of Canadian Mountie Thanks much for the info and photos. With these for reference, I think I'll be able to come with up with something that resembles a Mountie. Time to sharpen the pencil. Best regards. Lazy Ike |

| | Re: Wanted: Caricature Pattern of Canadian Mountie Ike .... the RCMP maintain quite an extensive web site and it includes copies of some early paintings that the Force had done over the years to celebrate their unique history. They might be of use to you in your quest. Google them up and see what you can find. I have several Mountie buddies and they all have some pretty impressive paintings or prints of officers in the field......when I say field I mean: bush, dog teams, tundra, forest, horse back on the praries, along with some pretty impressive Natives .... Sitting Bull, Dull Knife, and Crazy Horse, if memory serves.

| | Re: Wanted: Caricature Pattern of Canadian Mountie The mountie that I carved is in my gallery. Go to it I believe page 5 look under Colin's mountie. The pattern came from the book carving blockheads by Steve Prescott.

| | Re: Wanted: Caricature Pattern of Canadian Mountie Just spent about a half hour with google trying to find something about Dudley. After all, if you want a Dudley Doorite looking mountie, why not get his actual picture? But the closest I could get was a rather cute poem. Champagne flutes were raised in a toast,
to Major George Monroe of the Northwest .
He finally defeated villain, Snidely Whiplash.
They awarded him a gold watch on a velvet sash.
Dudley Dooright was quite taken aback,
For thirty-two years he’d been on the track
Attempting to capture the nefarious villain.
(Played in the movie version by Matt Dillon).
His career in ruin, and gone to hell,
He finally could marry the beauteous Nell!
Nell had other thoughts, of course.
She’d grown quite fond of Dooright’s horse!
Just found these 2 pix by looking for Snidley. Mayeb they will help.
