Default Tootin' My Own Horn!

Every once in a great while we a lucky enough to produce something that that seems to be a step above our normal output. "Joshua Deets" is just such a carving. Maybe it was the love I have for the saga of Lonesome Dove and the fantastic and colorful characters that inhabit it. Maybe it was caused by that Black that came up to my table in Dayton and ask if I had any "respectful" carvings of Blacks. Whatever it was, probably a combination of a number of things, it all seemed to "click" with this carving. I spent a bit longer than I normally do when applying the colors as I wanted it to look "trail worn". Personally I think I hit it pretty close.

Some my think that I'm stoking my ego by trumpeting my own efforts. Well, that's okay. I'm proud of Joshua!

Lots of photos on the Blog. Oh! And comments are always welcome.

Let me add to the congratulations then, Lynn. Really nice piece. It does have a "respecful" feel. Clean cuts and colors.

Wow, great piece! You've really got something to toot your horn about. Great detail!

Go ahead and Toot! You deserve it. All of your carvings are first class. This one is definitely GREAT. I do not see how anyone, Black, or any race, could be anything but impressed.

Let me clarify something.....That Black Wrangler didn't ask that question because I had some "disrespectful" carvings setting on my table. That's one thing you will never see me do. He had already made a trip around the show and, while I'm ashamed to admit it, he was confronted by several which I would consider in very poor taste. One thing I always try to do when producing a piece is to make sure that any humor involved is due to the situation or scene shown not toward any characters involved. I think it's very important when doing carvings to remember that what might seem funny to you might be quiet harmful toward the feelings of others.

I have to admit that when I saw this new title thread I was expecting another carving from you Lynn. However, I was not disappointed with the finish painted Deets. You have lifted the bar again.
Outstanding Lynn.
