Hi Lynn,
I just found this thread and had to take a look. I am a big fan of your work anyhow but this piece is wonderful. It is a perfect caricature of a black cowboy. I envy the fact that you can capture the facial features and expression that you set out to do. I would do more black santas if I could....but unlike you, I have no control over how the faces come out...they just happen as I carve and are nearly always a surprise. If a face takes on ethnic features while I carve it, I am thrilled. But any time I have tried to create ethnic features on purpose, they didn't work out. So, I watch as I carve...always hoping for a good one.

Great job!!!

Hey Lynn , just now seen this thread and as alway most all the comments are used up . I can only add that after slobbering all over the computer screen checking out the blog on "Deets" , the detail is amazing , right down to the belt
loops , all the buckles on the chaps and the belt ends I am amazed!!
painting is phenomenal , all colors are realistic and well separated.
Thank you for all the time you spend on here to show us all what we are trying to accomplish.
If I may can I ask one question ? Is it the wood burnt lines you us to keep the different colors separated??

Yep on the burning! Keeps your colors crisp and adds a little shadow effect to the creases to enhance the folds, etc. Thanks for the kind comments.
