| | Started A New Carving.... Updated Finished Carving Had big plans today to get up and get my coffee and carve on the deck this morning. Family asked me what I wanted to do today and I said nothing! I want to carve. Woke up to more darn thunderstorms! Was going to carve a new bear but opted for a Mike Shipley Rabbit that I had cut out so I opted to start it at the carving bench. This is his Do Nuthin Rabbit from the Country Folk book. I reduced it to fit on a 1 3/4 X 1 3/4 by about 3 inch block. Harder to do than the bears but fun. Hardest thing is the piece of wood is a Hobby Lobby piece and is real gritty. Definitely appreciate the good Heinikee stuff! But I am muddling through it, I won't use the wood as an excuse
Anyway, done for today. Thanks for looking.
Corey

| | Re: Started A New Carving.... Thanks guys. Cliff, I have done more animals than anything else so far...2 reasons... 1. I like doing them and they are fairly easy to add character too especially when you humanize them 2. My wife loves them and they seem to be her favorite and she is the one who authorizes future purchases

| | Re: Started A New Carving.... Aw come on Corey. This must be some kind of conspiracy. I mean I know the internet is fast, especially if youmhave dsl, but this is ridiculous. I looked and saw your first rough out and before I finished the thread, I'm looking at a finished rabbit.
Now I know I'm slow but I'm beginning to feel like tar on a cold day trying to flow uphill.
Great job. |
