here are some i tried in the flat plane style, these are fun prjects as they do not require alot of tools or time and you get a good little carving. gonna do more with maybe just a touch more detail in the faces. hope you like.

Bart, I think they look great. All the flat plane carvings I have seen have about the same level of detail as these. Be sure to keep posting photos. Thanks Tom H

I love the expression and the clean almost abstract look of the piece.

Bart... Very nice work! I like how you got the wrinkles, That's where my whittling has yet to succeed.

Hi-Ho... After reading a similiar thread the other day I started looking for info on flat plane carving...something to tide me along until I get the money to order a book. This is one of the sites that I found. No pictures but a fairly decent description.

gene, i like the wells knife for this type of carving because they are sharp and thin so they slide thru the wood.

by the way thanks to all for the kind compliments but i forgot mention that the little guy is from a pattern i got from gene messer, it is a great little pattern that i like alot, you can cut quite a few and throw them in a bag with a few tools and go. thanks again for all the nice comments.

Very Nice Carvings. I like the style where each cut is important. A lot of concern going into the placement of each plane makes a small piece a major achievment.
