To make the cuts i cut the face feature deep then i use steel wool on the cut marks to smooth them out but not to much i still want to see some of the blade marks. But as you know i've only been carving a while i keep trying to make the cuts like Gene but i just have not got it them right yet!!! But i thank you for asking about the way i do the carvings.I'm just carving for the fun of carving.
Thanks |

| | Re: Slim Jim and Ralph Windsong,
Gene can pipe in here, but if you want cuts like Gene, don't smooth them out. He makes deep aggressive cuts and leaves them.
Nice pieces. Keep working, you'll get it...and have fun along the way. |

| | Re: Slim Jim and Ralph Good job Vic ... Those are two keeepers ...
As far as smoothing out your cut's .. that basically is to your likeing .. If you like it better that way .. then go for it ...
It's not a vital thing ...
Good job

| | Re: Slim Jim and Ralph I don't know how I missed these little fellers yesterday. Nice job on both, Vic.... I like your style! Can't do it myself yet, but I'm a big fan of the flat plane lil' people. Ralph reminds me of a favorite uncle... Bonnie |
