Thumbs up Re: "Sleepy Santa"

Mark,

Thanks for posting the after waxing picture. I can really tell the difference from the before waxing. Looks great. I might have to give that a try too.

Mark, I had the same problem about 2 yrs. ago. I was holding the piece's being carved in my left hand and developed tendionitous in my right elbow, it was a killer, at it's worse it would even keep me up some nights. I resorted to fastening my carvings down on a vise no matter what it was, goose eggs, walking sticks ect. This elbow pain took a while to clear up...months. But now after given it a good rest by using the vise I am able to hold objects in my hand again to carve with out any pain at all, just got to be careful of over use. I really like your Santa carving your work keeps getting better and better!

Mark, the carving looks great but Santa needs to get a couple hundred cheese burgers for sure.

Did you use plain linseed oil of BLO. I have tried both and just plain lindseed oil never did dry and the BLO took longer to dry than I wanted. Do you find this correct or have I done something wrong?

kenny,
use the blo if it doesnt dry as quick as you want, hit the carving with a light coat of deft, the deft will dry it pretty quick and you can put wax on the peice if you like.
try it on a small carving to see how it works.
