Default Silver Star

This is the first of a three piece series for a man in Arkansas. His dad was a Corsair pilot in WWII and was awarded the Silver Star for saving the life of his commanding Officer. This is a likeness of the dad in his gear.

The next will be the son of the pilot in his Vietnam era uniform. The third piece of the vietnam vet's son in his Gulf war era uniform. All Marines! Semper Fi!

Great start Joe. What a tribute! Your finish is super as is the carving. What kind of a base will they be on? Or will they? You gonna work USMC into it?

I have thought about making a star as a base with the man standing upon the center. We will have to see how that goes though.

Wow, that is really cool and a neat story as well... three generations of military. I collect painted metal military figures so I can't wait to see the rest of your series.

Great job Joe. Piece looks neat and clean, lots of character.

The base - What about the Marine Bulldog shape, or the Marine logo with anchor and all? Just an idea - silver star does sound neat as I sit and think about it.

Your Marine caught my attention - our son, Daniel, is with the 3/5 outside Bahgdad right now - second tour. Proud of him too.

Joe,
Nice carving and a great idea for a series. I thought about posting all on a single base with the campaign ribbon from each era carved and displayed in front of them. Just a thought! Hope to see the completed series. Thanks for posting and God Bless Them, everyone.
