Default Silver Dollar City

Need some advice. I have heard so much about Silver Dollar City and would like to go sometime this year. When would be the best time of the year to go and see a lot of caricature carving going on? Thanks in advance….Myron

Myron .. Silver Dollar City has a craft festival starting in September and ending in late October . thats when all the craftsman are there .. The Fall ..

All through the city year round you have some woodcarving to see at Englers Block to Mountain Woodcarvers at Silver Dollar city .. To ( and you cant missthis place ) Pete Englers woodcarving shop at The Grand Palace shopping center .. great place to see woodcarvers .. even seen some of Lynns carvings and Don Mertz pieces in there ..

Check with your internet of Silver Dollar City to see the yearly festivals ..

Great place to visit

Won't see mine anymore. I took them out and sold them myself! Ed Zinger runs a carving gathering at Comptons Ridge sometime but I can't remember exactly when. Hey....I'm only a short hop to the west of there so you can always stop by here. You know your welcome!

march 2-6 (5days) is a woodcarving seminar at silver dollar city- 32 instructors and in excess of 300 carvers-- im sure some classes are still open-- call shirley at 417-338-8293 or woodcarvers@silverdollarcity.com for more information-all types of carving and all levels of carvers-- this takes place before the park opens for the season-- ive gone for 8 yrs now and its always a great experience---- if i can help-- send me a private message with email address and i will respond to my best --

the rest of the yr the carving shop has carvers demonstarting carving. some are on staff the rest are guest carvers. many local and some come some distance to participate.

Lynn

Just wondering if you had problems with SDC selling carvings, would think it would be a great outlet- Have heard that they want most of the profit though.

The problem with shops like those at SDC or other places is that you have to agree to a 40 to sometimes 50 percent markup to place your work. I put in a couple of pieces as an experiment to see if they would move but with that markup it put the price so high that it was out of range. The exposure is nice but only if you can sell something. I found I can do much better on my own.
