Default Shipley Bear - Painted Up

Hi All. I decided to go ahead and paint the bear... just couldn't resist it. Painted in oils and acrylics. He's wearing my work garb Not sure how much carving I am going to get after this weekend. My back has been killing me for the last month and had an MRI and it's a bulging disc and I am numb all around my waist and back. Now have a trip to the oral surgeon Maybe they will let me carve in the hospital!
Thanks for looking.

Corey

Thanks Bob! It was fun one. I made my first carving in Feb. The boot shown in the avatar and one of Gene's great projects. Wish I had picked up carving a long time ago. I am just having a blast. I have been painting military miniatures, landscapes and model stuff most my life however so the painting part comes easy. Carving not so easy but I am learning!
Corey

Thumbs up Re: Shipley Bear - Painted Up

Not only can he carve .. but he can paint too ! .. Hint .. Hint ..

Corey .. That is great looking ..... Man Iam so proud of your work .. You have really come so far in such a short time .. Do I detest a bit of artistic inheritance in your family you may not know about ? Possibly ..

Just great job Corey .. The bear is just right ..

Gene

Your little guy looks great, all dressed up and ready for work!
My sister has been going through a lot with her back, 8 weeks of chiropractic work plus physical therapy. So I can imagine what you're going through. But from basically being disabled to getting things done, finally, she's doing better. And I know you'll pull through. Looking forward to future carvings. Get well soon.

Thank you for the kind words Gene, Bonnie and Jim. Keep in mind I don't show you my failures and there have been plenty.... but that's part of the process!

Jim, I have dealt with back problems for some time and it looks like it is coming to a sudden remedy or I hope so. I am sick because I can't work in the garden etc. but i can sit on the deck and carve though! Good to have my son around to help me though with the mowing etc. Thanks bud!

Outstanding job Corey, he sure is a neat little feller you should be proud. I hope you start feeling better, If you carve in the hospital and you cut yourself at least you won't have to go far to get stitched up or get a bandaid.

That little bear sure turned out nice. Really nice job. I sure know that back problems are no fun. I have always struggled with that. Hang in there with your carving....Myron
